I bought a postcard which is addressed to Lieut D Hoyt, dated March 1944 and wanted to try to find out more about her. From your website, I was able to find out that this was Lieut Dorothy M Hoyt, Chief Nurse in General Supply who was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in April 1944. I wonder what happened to her? Thank you so much for all your detailed research on the 136th Station Hosp. Best regards, Vanessa

He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division and served through all the campaigns of battle. The Bulge being one of them. I believe he was with the divisions 45th Armored Med Battalion. But am not sure. Like many that served he was a hero. 5 bronze stars and his graduation class photo tells me so. Like many vets, He would not talk about his service duties. Any info would be helpful. I was born on 8 Oct 1944 in Riardo, Caserta, Italy very close to Cassino. Medical units like the 38th.Med Evac Hospital, the 94th, the 95th. the 15th, the 16th, the 11th Field Hosp , plus units like 2nd Platoon of the 601st clearing company, the 161st. medical battalion and the 2nd of the 12th Medical SupplyDepot (all assigned to the 5th Army and the 3rd division) operated in the Riardo area between 5 Nov 1943 and 16 Apr 1944. My mother (an Italian civilian born in the US) worked at one of the hospitals, probably the 38th. because it was the largest and closest). She worked as a translator and assisted in the caring. My sister was treated for minor burns at one of these hospitals. My unknown father likely was assigned to one of these units. I have a picture of what I believe could be Medical personnel with some relatives celebrating some kind of event in Riardo. I do not know the identities of some of the personnel in the picture. Anyone having relatives in the medical field who served in the Riardo area during that time and wishes to see the picture can contact me at wcaiazza@roadrunner.com Walter C. Caiazza, MSgt. USAF, Ret

I served with the 42nd Field Hospital, 2nd platoon. I was on the Susan B. Anthony when hit by 2 mines and the ship sunk. We transferred to a salvage boat, then British Destroyer and a landing craft brought us onto UTAH Beach on D-day +1.

I would love to talk with anyone part of the 42nd Field Hospital and especially the 2nd platoon.

I really like this website. I visit often to get updates and learn new things about the military and veterans. I have come across many other great websites that are very informative. One website is U.S. Veteran Compensation Programs (http://www.veteranprograms.com). On this website I frequently learn about the latest money available to veterans, benefits for veterans and their families, where to get discounts for veterans, and I get free things from their veteran giveaway program.
Keep up the good work. I will pass the word about your website and I will visit again. Thanks!
